Our 2019 WordPress roadtrip

15 January 2019

During 2018 we kicked on from our bumper 2017 year of hitting up as many WordPress events in person as we could. As we begin the New Year we’re starting to plan our travels around the UK for the upcoming months.

Chances are, some of our WordPress team will be in a town near you in the coming weeks and months; keep your eyes peeled on our blog and social media for more info as events unfurl. 2019 is shaping up to be another big year for our team on the road.

Of particular note for 2019, we’ve decided to take a year off from attending WordCamp events as sponsors. For the past three years we’ve proudly sponsored every single WordCamp in the U.K. but this year will see a change of pace. We love WordCamps and supporting the community through them, but for 2019 we’re looking to refocus our time and energy.

Why? Well, in a nutshell we want to support the community in a more hands on, more engaged and more practical way. We’ve been increasingly attending more and more local meetups during the past few years, and really want to focus our efforts in this direction during 2019. Indeed, we directly sponsor quite a few meetups with more signing up all the time.

At local meetups we love that we get more one on one face time with attendees and are able to better answer their WordPress queries, no matter how complex.

The more informal nature of meetups mean we can also be more flexible and accommodating for each group. We might bring the pizza, we might offer up a presentation, we might lend hands on assistance with a user’s real life WordPress site problem, we might do all three. Regardless, we get to spend lots of quality time with the WordPress community, on their own terms. Expect to see us North to South, at events aplenty.

This doesn’t mean you won’t see our team at WordCamp events though. As mentioned above, we love these events and you’ll still find our experts attending as many as we can make. As ever, come and say hi at any WordCamp, meetup or usergroup!
