Did you know: backups and snapshots

Once or twice a year I like to take the opportunity to remind everyone about the range of backup tools we offer; after all, what’s more important than your website data? If you needed to recover from a critical failure tomorrow, could you?

First off, all of our hosting plans come with automated backups: Professional, WordPress, Universal and Reseller Hosting are all backed up on an automated basis. We incrementally backup your data each and every day (except Professional, which is weekly). This also includes your email, which is handled by a separate backup system.

34SP.com managed backups are not available directly to clients, you’ll need to contact support if you want any data restored. Our support team is available 365 days a year if you ever need a full or partial site restore. You can find more on our backups processes and details here.

Snapshots

If you want to take control of your data though – and we always recommend you do – have you checked out our Snapshot tool yet? If not, I recommend you review the feature ASAP.

Our Snapshot tool allows you to create an instant copy of your website data at any time. One click is all it takes and we make a replica of your website data. This data is stored separately from your account’s main backups, and is accessible to you 24/7 via our control panel.

You can manually restore a Snapshot without contacting our support team and you can create and store five Snapshots on our servers at any time. If you need to store more on our servers, you’ll need to delete an older one first.

The biggest benefit of using Snapshots is that you can download your Snapshot for offline safekeeping. Moreover, as part of our policy of doing business simply and honestly, we provide Snapshot files in a non-proprietary and portable manner. If you ever need to switch hosts, your data is yours, you can move as you see fit.
