Our website is to let potential counselling clients know what to they can expect from counselling sessions with me. We know that many people considering seeking help from a counsellor but don't follow through so I am keen to reach out the those people in particular, to help lower the barriers.
If someone finds me on a counselling directory they can then access the website to get more information and a feel for what I am like and whether they think I'd be the right person for them.
When the .scot domain names became available I decide to use that instead of the uk one as I think of myself as a Scot and felt this would reflect me more! No insult to anywhere else in the UK.
Unexplored Scotland is a site that supports online advertising and booking for our client's outdoor adventure company. The Rural GP Association of Scotland went through a rebrand in 2015 and since then we have been keen to raise the awareness of rural GP work - as a great place to work as well as the challenges that we face - with an effective web presence. This is to raise our profile with current practising rural GPs in Scotland - of whom we already have a wide membership base - as well as the wider public and potential rural GPs too. The .scot domain name makes us immediately identifiable as a Scottish organisation, and one that is proud of the wide range of geography and communities that our members cover. Having already hosted various sites on 34SP.com, using 34SP for website and email hosting was an easy decision, and we haven't regretted it. Great customer service, a friendly response to emails and phone calls, and dealing with a company that clearly values its customers, makes for a pleasant and reassuring experience."

The site is for my business, Steve Bell Coaching and Consulting. My focus is on working with businesses to improve productivity and reduce sickness absence and presenteeism by protecting and improving the health and wellbeing of their staff. This can include working at organisational level to adopt policies and working practices supportive of better health and wellbeing or at an individual level on issues such as stress and resilience.
The reason I wanted to use a dot.scot account is that this helps differentiate me geographically in what is quite a busy professional area. Scotland also has a strong identity, including a strong business identity. As a Scot, whose business is Scottish based, and who expects to work principally in Scotland, I am keen to associate myself and my business with this identity.
The Dot Scot Registry is in charge of the .scot domains. The registry will be run as a not for profit organisation putting any money raised back into digital skills training in Scotland.
