Reserving Your .UK Domain Name

By Siobhan McMinn on April 10th, 2014 in Official News with No Comments »

Siobhan here on the sales team :) I’ve had a lot of enquiries about how to reserve your .uk domain, so I’m posting this to settle any concerns our customers may have.

The .uk domain will be publicly available from the 10th June 2014 to buy. Please don’t panic and think you need to reserve the domain right now before someone else buys it. If you already own the .co.uk domain then you have automatically reserved the .uk domain. The .uk is reserved for you and no-one else can buy it for a period of 5 years. If you do not buy it within this time your .uk domain will be made publicly available to buy on the 10th June 2019.

Advice on Keeping Existing Customers Happy!

By Siobhan McMinn on April 7th, 2014 in Hints, Tips & Guides with No Comments »

I won’t spend my time by saying ‘Go the extra mile’ or ‘Listen to them and treat them well’. This should already be obvious to you and should be your main focus.

I attended a fantastic talk provided by Rafael, spokesperson for Open-Xchange at World Hosting Day last week. This was based on keeping your existing customers happy and reducing churn. I found this talk both informative and necessary to business in general and as a lot of our customers run businesses and resell hosting it’s definitely worth discussing and sharing my thoughts and Rafaels!

If you didn’t already know, we’re huge fans of WordPress here at 34SP.com. It’s kinda like sunshine and jet fighters – free and exceptionally powerful. And there are less missiles, definitely less missiles. We’ve been running WordPress sites and WordPress hosting just about since it’s inception in 2003 by co founders Matt Mullenweg and Mike Little (a Manchester local we might add!).

In 2014, we’re looking to get even more hands on with WordPress – we’ve got some exciting product developments coming online and we’re also bursting at the seams with excitement about being a headline sponsor for WordCamp Europe 2014. For those in the dark about WordCamp – the single or multi day events are casual conferences for local enthusiasts, developers, bloggers, designers, vendors, in fact anyone with a passion for sunshine and jet fighters. No wait, sorry, WordPress!
