Beta Testers Wanted for IPv6
Our engineers here at 34SP.com are often looked upon to provide answers to complex technical questions on behalf of both our clients and other members of the 34SP.com staff. The coming transition from IPv4 to IPv6 is exactly the type of technical challenge that our engineers look forward to. As most of you already know, the online world has been running out of IP addresses for many years. The transition over to the new replacement version IP addresses (IPv6) is now upon us - and the technical details required to properly make the switch once again fall onto the capable shoulders of the 34SP.com engineering team.
The legacy Internet Protocol addressing scheme (IPv4) is rapidly shrinking in availability and the current supply of legacy IP addresses is depleting fast. It is only a matter of time until only IPv6 addresses are available to ISP's and their customers. In order to make this transition absolutely seamless, 34SP.com has been preparing and testing the IPv6 protocol well ahead of actual transition date.
34SP.com intends to introduce IPv6 connectivity throughout our entire current range of hosting products with as little delay as possible to identify any pending issues and solve them before they are needed in mission critical applications. Anyone familiar with IPv6 can attest that this presents numerous engineering challenges - among which is reverse compatibility with all of the 34SP.com legacy systems plus ongoing testing and refining of any third party applications which connect to 34SP.com systems and client websites.
This is where you come in! 34SP.com engineers are now able to provide 'beta' assignments of IPv6 addresses to both dedicated server and VPS customers. Currently only those servers located in our London data centre are able to receive an assignment (those with IPv4 addresses within the range 80.82.112.0-80.82.123.255). Support for clients located in Manchester will be coming as we iron out technical unknowns with equipment there. If you are interested in beta testing IPv6 with 34SP.com - please email into: support@34sp.com and let us know.
