As you may recall we recently finished interviewing for a design position. Interviews went very well, so much so that we had to hire two people rather than one!

This week sees Alison join the 34SP.com team, the first of our two new hires. Alison has joined us to help us improve our design talents. She will be working on our main site, marketing campaigns and a few new projects we have in the works. You should see the fruits of Alison’s work over the coming months as we look to develop and improve our website and customer facing systems.

Our new Atmail webmail system is now live, in final testing.  Should you wish to take advantage of this new webmail platform please see the instructions here.

Over the coming weeks and months we will be slowly migrating all 34SP.com mail services to Atmail.  The old horde/IMP setup will be available during the migration period.  We think you will find the new Atmail system a massive improvement.

If you do use the new setup, we would appreciate any feedback you may have.

Company

34SP.com is a rapidly growing web hosting company based in central Manchester.

Founded in 2000, the company now employs seven full time staff and is a Limited VAT registered company.

Salary

£18,000 - £23,000 p.a.

Salary reviews are conducted every 6 months.

Position

The successful applicant’s role will be to maintain and develop the company’s portfolio of websites. These are a mix of sales and customer support sites. The applicant will be required to work closely with back end developers to achieve seamless integration.

The applicant will also be required to study competitors websites and associated interfaces in order to develop and improve sites.

Hours

9.30am to 5.30pm weekdays.

Required Skills and Experience

Excellent and demonstrable design skills (both web and graphic)
A thorough understanding of the modern web environment
Experience designing standards compliant websites
Knowledge and understanding of additional languages and technologies (PHP, Perl, Javascript, MySQL) a definite plus
Experience of a *nix environment beneficial
At least 2 years in a professional design environment
